Majors

Post by SetaSoujirou » Mon Feb 07, 2011 3:17 am

So I'm going off to college in fewer than two years and I'm planning to major somewhere in the broad field of biology. What's everyone elses' major, and is there any insight that can be given about college and such?

old major: bio
current major: law

insights:

-get friendly with your teachers. You wouldn't believe how often I handed in stuff late but wasn't penalized for it for the reason that I was a "fine student", after explaining myself or simply asking for extensions.

-if there's something you don't like about yourself, college is the place to change it. Nobody knows you.

-get social if you aren't, and start actually doing work if you were social (because I like generalizing).

-do sports or at least, move.

-don't skip sleep.

-start woking on projects / stuff as early as you recieve them.

Sounds like stuff I'm already doing :)

What caused you to change your major, because I do remember you in that doctor's coat a while back

Just finished mine last year, actually :) - double major in Graphic Design and 3D Design.

And yeah, don't leave stuff to the last minute because although it's possible to do most things it's ridiculously stressful, anything that can happen to hinder you will and the result won't be anywhere near as good as something you've been passionate about and dedicated to from the beginning.

BS in Engineering Physics, MS in Engineering Physics with a focus in plasma physics and magnetohydrodynamics. It's been fun, but to be honest I'm sick of the research community after my last internship. I think I'll be going into the field of engineering once I graduate in May.

I'm sure you were, but I procrastinate so much that I need to mind myself like that or fail.
