So...
The first black president...
As I was on my way to work early this morning, I discussed at length with a very wise man the finer points of this greater change. I'm not sure if you've noticed...but there is going to be a black President.
Things, will change...
The point, I would like to discuss is...
Now that he has claimed that office, some would say the highest possible, should people of similar ancestry still be given the aid and support they claim is due to them because of what happened years past?
How can you claim to be a minority, when you hold the Holy Grail?
Discuss.
Change indeed...

Re: Change indeed...
Affirmative action is a great concept that's applied in the wrong place. College? Business? You're controlling for so many of the variables there it's not even funny.
After all, the disparity between the 'races' is at a base level - it is the impoverished, the street kids, that are largely "black" or "mexican" or what have you. Affirmative action needs to go away from college and go to babies. Give them food, shelter, etc., as long as they stay in school. Don't just shove them into a school when they can barely afford food and then assuming the carrot of an easier time being admitted to college will save them. We need to take those who cannot afford to be educated, and make it worth their while, so they grow up and have educated children who have educated children until finally a gap that shouldn't even exist no longer does.

Not all are familiar about these or them. Be more specific.Kaome Sky Deathand wrote: Now that he has claimed that office, some would say the highest possible, should people of similar ancestry still be given the aid and support they claim is due to them because of what happened years past?
I'm thinking you are talking about
Umm... here you are plain wrong. President isn't the Holy Grail. I mean yeah sure he has lots of power and influence but compared to the Big Bad Corporations he is merely a puppet.Kaome Sky Deathand wrote:How can you claim to be a minority, when you hold the Holy Grail?
To quote another wise man
Skin color plays a minor. The only fact is that Afro-American people are usually born in places where you can't meet the upper class of people. If you from day one (birth) be in contact with rich smart successful people (white, black, red or blue) you'll most likely grown into one of them.Oran:"Is it because of your..."
News seller: "Because I'm black? Hell no. It doesn't matter what skin color you are wearing. If you know the right shit, have the right shit you're the King. Otherwise you are in sh*t like the rest of us. You live like a dog and they treat you like one. "
That being said I believe that affirmative action or whatever you are recommending should be in force until it becomes firm's second nature. Diversity in all aspects should be a key of a successful company.
Or optionally until all colored people attain the same percent of rich/poor ratio.
Ok assuming your numbers are correct.VZhitogoroshi wrote:After all, the disparity between the 'races' is at a base level - it is the impoverished, the street kids, that are largely "black" or "mexican" or what have you. Wouldn't going and being a top student in your public college yield benefits like some sort of scholarship or small-fee dorm?
Here in Serbia public education trumps private education by far. Since we were a past socialistic state our best schools are public. If you are good enough you get to go to school for a meager expenditure, get college dorm for next to nothing (10$ per month), equally awful and cheap food (but it has been improved over time, all meals for one day cost a 1$) and republic scholarship (in case you are best of best about a 100$). I'm taking this isn't case where you come from.

So you're suggesting Des that being President isn't all it's cracked up to be anymore.
The ability to move thousands of men and women to a location to stop a military action or influence someones train of thought is plithy compared to the ability to monopolize the market and control certain aspects of stock ratio?
That aside, I was originally talking about the special financial support Afro-Americans get because years and years ago their ancestors were slaves to white people. Should they still receive supporting funds for that which happened before they were born when currently they have someone in the highest political office available at this time?

Being a leader of a nation comes with many constrictions. You have to appease voters, party, shady campaign supporters etc. I'm pretty sure if you did some irrational decisions that military or some other structure would stage a coup and discredit you any way and as soon as possible.Kaome Sky Deathand wrote:So you're suggesting Des that being President isn't all it's cracked up to be anymore.

Also never underestimate the power of money. Money is a currency through which not only material but social status is determined. So the more money you have the more social respect you've accumulated. People with money can use it as a way of bribing or forcing pretty much anyone into cooperation.
I think it should stay in motion. Until people are equal enough it should stay in motion. But then again it ain't my tax money.
