Startin a new one: intro

The smell of blood and ash filled the air as both rained down on the landscape. As far as the eye of any man could see, enormous pyres stood erected on the barren wasteland. Off in the distance screams came and went. Even though they had been set aflame days prior, the flames danced and liked at the smoke filled skies above. Finally dying out only after the bodies of those whom once inhabited the lands, could no longer feed the fires. Brother Talrus turned away from the scene and returned to his duty of bringing up the rear of his squad as they entered a series of caverns located within the mountains north to the flaming plateau.

Talrus had the basic average appearance of a Space Marine; six and a half feet tall, about a half ton in weight with basic armor, close shaven hair. Talrus’s eyes held a pale blue hue, as they lay slightly sunken in his sockets. His armor, black as the ash covered its natural marble white color, was decorated with emblems as much as it was decorated with burns, holes, and cracks; both representing the combat he had seen in his lifetime. The same for which went for the rest of the squad. A crafted bolter held in his right hand put him aside from the others, as it was specially made in recognition for achievement of uncommon valor beyond even his chapter’s call of duty.

A staff stood several feet from between his shoulder blades. It held his chapter’s war banner above his head. It was white with a tattered and faded, golden trim running along the edges. In the center of the banner sat a simple golden sphere, or rather a golden globe. As it represented the golden throne of the planet Earth, on which the Emperor, Himself, sat, for Talrus was an honored warrior of The Imperial Voice.
