[C+] Katherine; Our Martyred Lady

Post by Kaome Sky Deathand » Wed Feb 06, 2008 2:41 pm

Katherine
LVL _ Our Martyred Lady
Intelligence, Hallowed Order
Model: Jaina (skinned of course...Whites and golds)
Role: Support/Offense

My dearest Scillio,
By the time you have found and read this events will already have been set into motion. I have traveled with our dear Brother Victor deep into the desert region to wash away the stain of unholy tides that threaten our way of life. I know that you would have disagreed with my choice, just as you argued with Victor not to go, so I chose to do it in secrecy. Forgive me my love if this offends you, but it must be done. I pray that our most Holy One will show you the way to understanding. Watch over those under your care, guard our flock well, and remember my dearest, I am always with you.
Katherine

Level 1 Skill:
The Light of Onare
  • In a flash of blinding light, Katherine becomes imbued with a measure of her lords power.
Effect one: For the next 6 seconds Katherine becomes invisible.
Effect Two: Enemy units caught in the flash (medium radius) will be blinded for 4/5/6/7/8 seconds.
Level 1 Skill:
Purity Seal
  • Casting forth a holy sigil upon the body, Katherine will render the targeted unit immune to all conditions from any attack dealing conditions for the next 5/7/9/11/13 seconds.
Creators Note: Spammable.

Level 1 Skill:
Angelicus Anthremoire
  • Casting forth a wave of holy energy, Katherine unleashes the anger of her lords power. Enemy units caught in the arc suffer 80/110/140/170/200 damage and, if blinded, have their blind renewed for 2/2/3/3/4 seconds.

Level 6 Ultimate:
The Canticle of Absolution
"Unholy Abominations! Your very presence in this world is a poison to us!
My Lord and God has blessed me with the knowledge...
Of the Six-hundred and Sixty-Six words in which to banish you from my sight! HEAR THEM AND BEGONE!"
  • Target enemy unit; that unit is partially banished from this world, becoming Crippled, Maimed, Muted and Ethereal (thus taking additional damage from spells) for the next 4/6/8 seconds.

Round of ammo for your thoughts?
All numbers are subject to crunching.

I like her. I keep imagining someone with delayed gameplay having the ultimate cast on them lulz.

*wonders if he's the only one who got the reference in the name + title* >_>

She looks quite good, although the ult is a little... unorthodox, and a command delay of any form seems somewhat brutal. However, all the skills are pretty simple, which is another plus.

Dead and wounded lie all around, see the pain in their eyes

If Kharn's going, we have to keep some kind of reference present ... right?

Changed her name.
If i'm going to make a refrence I might as well do the actual martyred lady.

Making a list of quirks.

I mean so far, only Kassar would suffer from Purity Seal.
Combos with Victor would be astounding.
Someone gest Wrathed, Purity Seal Victor, Martyr.

Sure everyone would be screwed with A command delay (if its even an able thing to do finding that out soon)
But certain people would be screwed over totally.
Rikter couldn't hit and edge away or do an endless whirlwind.
Anick couldn't telefrag out.
Vert would stand there looking confused before a Discord.
Things that you usally can't end (because you don't have knockdown) you could at least hold a few more seconds.

I don't think her ultimate is quite strong enough in this form. I think perhaps it could wipe conditions, but take away additional health as well as mana. I mean, 180 damage for an ultimate is kind of weak. Aurea does 120 a second for 15 seconds. It would seem more like the Canticle of Absolution if she completely banished their presence by wiping conditions and tearing apart their inner-energies, as well as maim. I picture it as this intense nova of white light ensuing from her body and raping everyone around her; it would be really great if it knocked everyone down for a bit as well, because then you could demonstarte that banishment by stopping channel as well.

Angelicus Anthremoire seems like it's lacking something. I mean, Fahren has a shockwave, but it also extends burn which makes it really great. I don;t know what's with me, but I keep on seeing her knocking people down, but maybe you should play another card against mana for this one as well and it wipe mana from damaged units as well, which would make the ripping into their very polluted being seem a bit more realistic if it dragged away some mental energy as well.

Purity Seal is less confusing than it sounds, I imagine. When you say 'any attack dealing conditions,' would you mean any skill that would inflict (a) condition(s) on the target? Meaning, directly targeted conditions, so Sandstorm and tornne's Epidemic-thing wouldn't be protected against? If I'm going on a completely wrong path, then I think you should just say the unit is immune from all conditions for the next X seconds.

I like the light of Onare just fine, I see no reason to change it.

Hope I helped a bit.

I mean what I say.
If someone has Purity seal and gets hit with Sandstorm, they do not suffer blind, but still take the damage.

As I posted all numbers are subject to crunching of course that is too weak.
I really just throw damage numbers for filler because I don't like to post 'X'.
A.A. I haven't decided what to do with as of yet.

You have to understand though...
Everyone and their dog has an AoE of massive omfg rape on the order.
I don't want to have her ult become one more fire and forget spell.
I want to be usable in situations were damage wouldn't be concentrated on a base...
I already plan on changing it again because I don't want this character to become another template model.

Review:
  • General Pros:
    - Not a Cliche Hero
    - Ultimate
It's a cool ultimate, honestly. The Order could use more target hero stuff, it's a nice change of pace and its value is there.
  • General Cons:
    - Invisibility Usefulness
I can't really see the value in her having invisibility at all. Nothing really works well with it since she has no reason to be sneaky. I mean, she could run away, but that's practically it. It limits the value of the invisibility tremendously.
    - Level 1 Condition Immunity
It would be one thing if it worked only on her.. But being able to cast condition immunity onto say, Arro Kree, as he wipes out a base and thus becomes immune to all methods of stopping him (Mute, Wrath, Stun, Knockdown, etc) I mean, condition immunity is used sparingly in ultimate skills. She would easily be the most powerful hero in game if she could just nullify everything thrown at her. I could also be misreading this, but it seems you mentioned "attacks causing conditions" in the skill. If this means only attacks that cause conditions, then it would be relatively worthless, but if it means all conditions it would be severely overpowered just in principle.

It would also be kind of useless at level 1 (As a level 1 skill) since conditions aren't hugely prevalent that early on.
  • Final Thoughts:
The hero is a bit inspiring. That you supplied a model idea and skills to a theme is helpful because I can work with that to get some ideas of my own. It's not a bad hero, honestly, but I think it just needs a lot more finetuning to really adhere to what the Order needs (You nailed some of those down pat, though) and how to deal with those requirements in a very fun manner.

Honestly, I won't lie, you've made better. (Nothing personal, comrade)
  • End Grade:
    C+
