Hope, it is the quintessential human delusion,
simultaneously the source of our greatest strength, and our greatest weakness.
The venue is Angband. The goal is to keep up with the pack, reaching ever-deeper foes and reaching other milestones. We will go in week-long increments, to prevent this from consuming any significant amount of time. It will be quick - if you have the skill to survive.
When you die, you are dead. While it is possible for one to fight in your place, as the group goes downward it will be harder to catch up in a single week.
For the first week, I will stake out and demand you reach a relatively small distance, simply to make sure the newbies are acclimated. Then, I will lead the group downward. If I am not the last survivor, you will follow a new leader upon my demise.
I'm afraid that I can't make the first challenge quite as easy as Kaome's. Angband is a different kind of game, and if you're completely new and don't know the commands it might take a bit for you to get warmed up.
Still, anyone who's played Angband before will find the first challenge easy. Remember, though, you need to make a new character - if your dump is OVER level 4 or 5 it's disqualified. So dump as soon as you're ready! (It's C > f to dump, it'll show up in your angband > user folder.)
The First Challenge: Meet N' Greet
It's time to meet up with your adventuring friends. Problem is, they're on the third floor.
Knows Which End is the Pointy One - Required (2 OP) - Reach level 3.
Knows which End is Down - Required (1 OP) - Reach the third floor.
Disregard for Personal Health - Optional (1 OP) - Quaff a unknown effect potion and post the color/effect correlation.

Crimson potion did nothing (I think). Unless the bonus in FrAct is from it, but there was no such message (EDIT: same message as Dusk had, "you have no more Crimson Potions {tried}").

In my game, Tangerine potions are Slowness. Luckily they also seem to wear off quickly.
Dusk, I'll take a "tried" potion as well. The point of the challenge is to emphasize that something as simple as drinking a potion could potentially kill you. You took the risk, you cleared the achievement.
Logue, the max level requirement was just to make sure you weren't cheating. Get to level 3 and re-dump, it doesn't matter what level you are now.
